So, who are these people?

Jan Underhill owns J.R. Underhill Communications, a small ad agency specializing in branding, graphic design and marketing communications. Scuba diving never entered her mind before she became involved with Bob. Please feel free to check out more of her work at jrunderhill.com.

Robert Underhill is an electrical engineer whose day job usually involves installing and servicing medical imaging equipment. His fascination with scuba diving began with the TV program Sea Hunt, and cameras had also caught his interest by the time he learned to dive. This site reflects his five decades of pursuing adventure and images, most of them in Great Lakes waters.

Since the early 1990s, when it became apparent that various invasive species (zebra and quagga mussels) were likely to target Great Lakes shipwrecks in great numbers, the Underhills have been accumulating a visual record of this underwater heritage using their own small boats. This made it easy to include a canine sidekick. This website is dedicated to the memory of Mike Nelson, who went along gamely on countless dive adventures between 1992 and 2006 and is remembered fondly by many.
