The William Young sank in the Straits of Mackinac in 1891 and wasn't found until 2002, during a police diver search for a missing person off the east side of the Mackinac Bridge. Read more
The William H. Barnum foundered about five miles east of Mackinac Point in 1894. It was rediscovered in 1963, and withstood extensive damage by collectors before laws were passed protecting shipwrecks. Read more
